About

Picture
Mansfield Frazier is a writer, developer, business owner, lecturer, radio host (on temporary leave), and an outspoken community activist. A native Clevelander and product of Cleveland's Public School System, he  returned home in 1995 and has been living in the 7th Ward since 2000.

"I consider myself to be an urban pioneer.  I built my home in the Ward, developed other housing in the area, and started a business here. We employ youth and adults from the neighborhood, some of whom are formerly incarcerated like myself.  Through my many and varied  endeavors I have worked with persons in and around Cleveland, around Ohio, and indeed around the nation."

Core Values

While the art and craft of politics requires a degree of reasonable moral flexibility (so that compromises can be reached, which allows for deals to be struck) there are some issues — some principles — that, to me, are non-negotiable. Some lines cannot be crossed or positions compromised:

  • Every child in America has the inalienable right to a quality public education, funded by a fair and equitable process. If we continue to fail in this vital function of government we are creating a two-tiered democracy and hastening the demise of our society.
  • Equal pay for equal work. No group of Americans is entitled to more pay than others for the same work. Every worker deserves a living wage and the right to be treated with dignity by their employer.
  • Everyone deserves fair treatment under the law. Law enforcement and the Court system must treat all citizens equally and with the dignity they deserve. The rights of citizens must not be violated simply because they are poor or a member of a minority group.
  • The “War on Drugs” must come to an end. It has proven to be a war on people instead, and it has not worked. Additionally it has destroyed communities in its prosecution.
  • Discrimination based on gender and gender identity must not be tolerated. Every human being, no matter their sexual orientation or preference, deserves respect and equal treatment.
  • The death penalty is barbaric and it must be brought to an end in our country. State-sanctioned murder is still murder.

An Urban Winery

"It is exciting to find a winery in Cleveland,
in Hough.  The whole notion of reusing  vacant land combined with an effort to  ready formerly incarcerated individuals for employment by (re)developing skills, providing transitional services, and encouraging continued education is a good service for the community."
